Here are some common book buying mistakes
Royal Road to Card Magic -very difficult to understand for youngsters not used to old fashioned writing styles, but great material and the best introduction to card magic. Best read in conjunction with Paul Wilsons DVD set in order to understand it, make sure you get the Paul Wilson set not the cheaper one
Expert Card Technique - do not buy this unless you are already an expert it is not a follow on to Royal Road and don't buy the paperback it has the important chapters missing
Bobo's Modern Coin Magic (paperback) - This is not the same book as the hardback New Modern Coin Magic half the stuff you want is missing
Magic by Misdirection Fitzkee - its a stinker
The Trick Brain Fitzkee - Don't waste your money
Most Dover reprints unless you want to read history the exception is Magic and Showmanship by Henning Nelms
